A Profection Year is a twelve-month period interpreted through annual profections, a traditional timing technique that advances the Ascendant by one whole-sign house for each year of life. The first house corresponds to age zero, the second to age one, and the cycle repeats every twelve years. Profections are usually calculated from birthday to birthday.
Astrological Meaning
The activated house highlights topics likely to deserve greater attention during that year. Its zodiac sign identifies the planet known as the Lord of the Year, or time lord. Astrologers then study that planet’s natal condition, house rulerships, current transits, and sometimes its placement in a solar return chart. For example, a seventh-house year may emphasize partnerships, agreements, or significant one-to-one interactions, while the time lord describes how those themes may unfold.
