Planetary spirits are personified or spiritual expressions of the seven traditional planets: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The concept appears in classical, medieval, and Renaissance astrological and magical traditions. These spirits were understood as agents or embodiments of planetary qualities, although their names, ranks, and functions vary among sources and should not be treated as a single standardized system.
Astrological Meaning
In astrological interpretation, planetary spirits symbolize the active forces associated with each planet. A Venusian spirit may represent attraction, harmony, pleasure, or artistry, while a Saturnian spirit may signify boundaries, discipline, time, or restraint. Their expression is evaluated through the condition of the relevant planet, including its sign, house, aspects, dignity, and sect.
