A periodical lunation is the recurring alignment of the Sun and Moon at a particular phase, especially a New Moon or Full Moon, considered as part of a repeating cycle. The term may also describe a calculated return to the same Sun–Moon angular relationship found in an earlier lunation or reference chart. It belongs mainly to traditional approaches to astrological timing.

Astrological Meaning

Astrologers use a periodical lunation to examine how themes associated with an earlier lunar phase may be renewed, developed, or brought into clearer view. The returning phase establishes the cycle, while its zodiacal degree, house placement, planetary aspects, and relationship to a natal or event chart supply the interpretation. A New Moon recurrence may emphasize beginnings and emerging intentions; a Full Moon recurrence may highlight culmination, contrast, or awareness. These meanings remain contextual rather than automatic.
