In classical astrology, the Fortunes are the planets traditionally considered benefic: Venus and Jupiter. Venus is associated with harmony, attraction, pleasure, and agreement, while Jupiter signifies growth, abundance, wisdom, and protection. The term describes their general tendency to support constructive outcomes, rather than promising constant luck or material wealth.

Astrological Meaning

The Fortunes are interpreted according to their zodiacal sign, house, aspects, rulerships, sect, and overall condition. A well-placed Venus may indicate areas where cooperation, enjoyment, or social ease can develop. A strong Jupiter may point toward confidence, opportunity, learning, or support. Their benefits can be moderated when they are weakened, poorly integrated, or connected with difficult chart factors. Traditional astrologers also distinguish between the greater benefic, Jupiter, and the lesser benefic, Venus. Sect can refine this distinction: Jupiter is generally considered more supportive in a day chart, while Venus is especially comfortable in a night chart.
