Recessional Directions are a traditional predictive technique in which chart factors are symbolically directed backward, or contrary to the usual zodiacal order. The term commonly overlaps with converse directions, although definitions and calculations can vary among classical schools. The movement is symbolic and does not mean that a planet has physically reversed course.

Astrological Meaning

In directional astrology, one factor acts as the promissor—the planet, point, or aspect being moved—while another serves as the significator, representing a life topic such as identity, relationships, vocation, or circumstance.
