The quesited is the person, object, event, or situation being asked about in a horary astrology question. It is distinct from the querent, who asks the question. The term comes from traditional astrological terminology and is used primarily when identifying the chart factors that represent the subject of inquiry.

Astrological Meaning

In a horary chart, the quesited is assigned to the house associated with the question. For example, a partner may be represented by the seventh house, a sibling by the third, and a missing possession by the second. The ruler of that house usually becomes the quesited’s main significator, while the Moon and relevant planets may provide additional context. The astrologer then examines the condition, placement, dignity, motion, and aspects of the quesited’s significator. Its relationship with the querent’s significator can describe connection, separation, obstacles, reception, or the possibility of development. Interpretation depends on the exact question and the traditional house system being applied.

Why It Matters

Correctly identifying the quesited is essential because horary interpretation rests on assigning the right houses and significators. Confusing the quesited with the querent—or selecting an unsuitable house—can distort the entire judgment.
