Horary Astrology
Definition
Horary astrology is a traditional branch of astrology used to explore a specific, sincerely asked question. Rather than relying on a person’s birth chart, the astrologer casts a chart for the time and place where the question is received and clearly understood. The resulting horoscope represents the question, its circumstances, and the possibilities surrounding its outcome.
Astrological Meaning
Interpretation begins by assigning the questioner and the matter in question to relevant houses and their ruling planets, known as significators. The Moon often describes the flow of events, while planetary aspects may indicate connection, separation, obstacles, or resolution. Essential dignity, house strength, reception, retrogradation, and timing techniques add context. Traditional practitioners may also examine whether the chart is suitable for judgment. Conclusions are usually conditional because the chart describes prevailing dynamics rather than an unavoidable fate.
Why It Matters
Horary astrology can offer focused guidance when a birth time is unavailable or when one practical concern needs closer attention. Questions may involve relationships, work, property, missing objects, or decisions. Its structured rules help narrow interpretation, but clear wording and appropriate context remain important. Horary is best treated as a reflective divinatory method, not a substitute for legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice.
