Definition

A Dominical Letter is one of seven letters, A through G, used in traditional calendars to identify Sundays within a given year. January 1 is assigned A, January 2 is B, and the sequence repeats through the calendar. The year’s Dominical Letter is the letter attached to its Sundays. Leap years usually require two letters because the weekday sequence shifts after February 29.

Astrological Meaning

The Dominical Letter is primarily a calendrical device rather than a planet, zodiacal factor, or natal-chart placement. In historical astrological practice, however, accurate calendars were essential for calculating dates, consulting ephemerides, preparing almanacs, and establishing the weekday associated with a birth or event.
