Anaretic Point
Definition
The anaretic point, also called the anaretic place, is the degree occupied by the anareta in traditional astrology. It identifies the zodiacal position from which the destructive or terminating influence was judged to operate.
Astrological Meaning
In classical longevity techniques, the astrologer compared the anaretic point with the hyleg and examined directions or aspects between them. The term belongs to a specific historical framework rather than ordinary modern natal interpretation.
Why It Matters
The anaretic point should not automatically be equated with twenty-nine degrees of a sign. Modern astrology often uses anaretic degree in a different sense, while the older anaretic point refers specifically to the place of the anareta.
