Definition

The Tropical Zodiac is a twelve-sign system anchored to Earth’s seasonal cycle. Aries begins at the March equinox, Cancer at the June solstice, Libra at the September equinox, and Capricorn at the December solstice. Each sign occupies 30 degrees of the ecliptic. Unlike the Sidereal Zodiac, it does not define signs by the current positions of the constellations.

Astrological Meaning

In tropical astrology, planets, angles, and other chart points are interpreted according to their positions within this season-based zodiac. A tropical Sun in Aries, for example, reflects the symbolism of the first phase of the seasonal cycle rather than a necessary alignment with the constellation Aries.
