A conjunction is an astrological aspect formed when two planets or chart points occupy the same degree of the zodiac or fall within an accepted orb of one another. Its exact angle is 0 degrees. Unlike aspects traditionally classified as harmonious or challenging, a conjunction is defined mainly by concentration and depends heavily on the factors involved.

Astrological Meaning

A conjunction combines the functions of the planets or points, making their interaction especially prominent. Compatible planets may cooperate readily, while planets with contrasting aims can create tension that requires integration. The sign describes how the combined energy tends to operate, and the house shows the life area where it may be most noticeable. A close conjunction is usually interpreted as stronger than a wide one; astrologers may also consider whether it is applying or separating. In a natal chart, it describes an enduring pattern. A transiting conjunction highlights a temporary activation, while a synastry conjunction shows how one person’s placement directly engages another’s.
