Astrological Almanac
Definition
An astrological almanac is a calendar-based reference containing astronomical, astrological, seasonal, and practical information. Traditional almanacs often listed planetary positions, lunar phases, eclipses, weather forecasts, and recommended times for everyday activities.
Astrological Meaning
Almanacs made celestial timing available to a broad public long before computerized charts. Farmers, travelers, merchants, and householders used them to plan work according to lunar and planetary cycles. Some also included predictions concerning rulers, nations, markets, and weather.
Why It Matters
The almanac helped carry astrology into daily life and preserved a close relationship between calendars, astronomy, and practical timing. Modern ephemerides, transit calendars, and astrology planners continue many of the same functions in updated form.
