Self care tips for Empaths

Spirituality

As an Empath, I allow myself to relax or recharge by setting aside alone time.  It helps me shed others energy.  I go on daily walks.  It helps me balance my energy and clear my mind.  I love to eat fresh fruit and vegetables and drink teas like chamomile and turmeric.  Here are more self care tips I’ve done or tried over the years.

It’s so hard to manage your self-care as an Empath because you are so busy taking care of others.  As an Empath we desperately need time to relax and recharge.  At times we can feel guilty about taking time to do this.  If we don’t take time to unwind it can cause us to burnout.  To keep you feeling balanced here are some self care tips.

Health is wealth and should always be a priority.  Try working out a few times a week.  Drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruit and vegetables regularly.  These little investments in your health can make a big difference in your energy.  Don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed, take an honest inventory.  Ask yourself often if you’re taking on too much or if you’re over stimulated.  If the answer is yes, prioritize from most to least information.  Make a weekly schedule to ensure you won’t overload yourself for the week, pencil in rest breaks.  Saying no isn’t selfish.  Knowing when to say no is important.  We all have a limited amount of time and resources to give; you can’t help everyone at all times.  Setting boundaries is important and can help prevent burnout.

Empaths often need time to be alone and center themselves.  Be honest with yourself when you have met your max capacity with interactions or socializing.  Allow yourself blocks of alone time.  Seek out hobbies or activities that allow you to express yourself.  Writing and poetry are amazing outlets for an overflow of emotions.  Other activities like photography, hiking, and biking can provide an opportunity to get out into nature and slow down.  Nurturing our hobbies allow us to nurture our hearts and create outlet or release that allow us to grow and process in our own way.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help, sometimes we need tools to help us process our emotions or a trusted friend or counselor to listen.  It takes strength to let someone in and evaluate when you may need additional support.  Just as you have a heart for helping others, there are people ready to help you, too.  Please, if you are struggling, do not hesitate to ask for help.  Your ability to connect with the emotions of others is a blessing.  It’s not a weakness to feel as much as you do, but it will require awareness so you don’t become overly immersed in the emotional highs and lows of others.  Be gentle with yourself as you navigate tough emotions and situations.

Non-dominant writing accessing  Inner Child

Non-dominant writing refers to the act of writing with the hand that is not your dominant one. For most people, their dominant hand is the right hand or the left hand, and using the other hand to write can feel awkward and challenging. However, practicing non-dominant writing can offer several benefits, such as improving coordination, stimulating creativity, and strengthening the connections between the brain’s hemispheres.

Practicing non-dominant writing can access your inner child.

You can start by writing simple sentences or short paragraphs with your non-dominant hand, and gradually increase the difficulty level as you feel more comfortable. It’s important to be patient and persistent, as it may take some time to develop the muscle memory and dexterity needed for non-dominant writing.

Writing from the perspective of your inner child with your non-dominant hand can be a powerful way to connect with your emotions, memories, and experiences from childhood. It can help you tap into your creativity and gain new insights about yourself.

To start, find a quiet and comfortable place where you can write without distractions. Take a few deep breaths to relax and focus your mind. Then, begin writing with your non-dominant hand, allowing your inner child to guide your words and express their feelings and thoughts.

You can start by asking your inner child questions such as:

What do you want to say?
How are you feeling?
What do you remember from your childhood?
What did you enjoy doing as a child?
What did you find challenging or difficult?
Write down whatever comes to mind, without judging or censoring your thoughts.

You may find that your writing is messy or illegible at first, but with practice, it will become easier and more natural.

When you’re done writing, take some time to reflect on what you’ve written. What insights have you gained about your inner child? What emotions or memories have surfaced? How can you use this information to nurture and heal your inner child?

Buried memories rarely appear in tact. Sometimes, they may come in fragments through a s sound, taste, smell, feeling. The awakening of memories is powerful.

Remember to be kind, compassionate, and patient with yourself as you explore this process. Writing from the perspective of your inner child with your non-dominant hand can be a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing.

Happiness is a Choice

Happiness

No one pledged life would be strawberries and cream. Only those who are no longer breathing, have no worries. For those of us still among the living, each day may include a particular amount of battle. One thing is sure you will not find happiness in the visions of another.

The reason for that is simple; another person does not know what makes you happy. They know what makes them happy. They can imagine what makes you happy, but only your soul truly knows how to make you happy. So how do we find happiness?

So the first step to finding happiness is to get to know yourself, your ins and outs, your loves, and your fears.

Our fears are a part of us. A problem with a lot of people is they don’t want to look at the dark aspects of who they are. But those aspects are as much a part of you as the positive ones.

When we understand ourselves, why we favor one thing and fear another, it gives us clarity and wisdom. Most of the time people avoid situations because of fear, “I don’t want to open my heart, because what if I am rejected” This is contamination. It does not work.

To get to the next phase of joy, you must first release the chains of fear that are holding you captive.

I remember once I was in Shabbat and a boy came up to the Bina and said “Yesterday is history tomorrow is a mystery today is a gift which is why we call it the ‘Present’ that stuck with me. Joy lives in the present. Fear lives in the past, and worries live in the future.

Worry is one of the most useless emotions. It serves no purpose; it only throws your chakras off balance and drains you of the vital energy that you need. Most of the time, we are worried about things that are the size of a pea. We make them larger than what they are, until all we see is the GIANT problem and rather than stepping back so we can see the solution standing right in front of us. We stare at the BIG Problem. This is unhealthy.

Let’s explore how to find that joy and explore it together.
