Imperfect Signs are a traditional astrological classification based on the physical form assigned to zodiac signs in older symbolism. Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces are commonly included, although lists and terminology can vary between authors. They may also be described as maimed, defective, or incomplete signs. These historical labels refer to symbolic imagery rather than the worth or character of people born under them.
Astrological Meaning
Classical astrologers sometimes considered an Imperfect Sign when judging physical condition, obstacles, damage, or whether a matter could be completed without complications. Its relevance depended on context: a sign on the Ascendant, the sign occupied by a significator, and the condition of that sign’s planetary ruler were assessed separately. An Imperfect Sign alone was not usually sufficient for a judgment. Planetary dignity, aspects, house placement, reception, and other testimonies could strengthen, modify, or contradict its symbolism.
