Nomes were the administrative regions of ancient Egypt, each governed locally and associated with particular cities, deities, emblems, and sacred traditions. The term is historical rather than a standard component of a natal chart. It appears in specialized discussions of Egyptian cosmology, sacred geography, and the cultural background from which some Hellenistic astrological ideas developed.
Astrological Meaning
In an astrological context, nomes may be considered when studying how ancient Egyptians connected regions of the land with divine powers, celestial cycles, and ritual calendars. Some later sources and modern researchers compare these regional correspondences with zodiac signs, decans, stars, or planetary symbolism.
