Definition
Gnomes are elemental beings traditionally associated with earth in Western folklore, alchemy, and occult philosophy. They symbolize the dense, material, and hidden aspects of nature, including soil, minerals, roots, and underground places. Although sometimes mentioned alongside astrological symbolism, gnomes are not planets, signs, houses, aspects, or other standard components of a natal chart.
Astrological Meaning
In esoteric or magical approaches to astrology, gnomes may personify the earth element and its qualities of stability, patience, practicality, embodiment, and stewardship of resources.
