Progressions are astrological timing techniques that symbolically advance a natal chart to explore gradual personal development. The most widely used method is secondary progression, in which each day after birth corresponds to one year of life. Other methods include solar arc directions and tertiary progressions. Unlike transits, which track the planets’ current positions, progressions derive their positions from the birth chart through a symbolic formula.

Astrological Meaning

Astrologers interpret progressed planets, angles, and aspects as indicators of evolving priorities, emotional cycles, and shifts in self-expression. The progressed Sun may describe a slowly changing sense of purpose, while the progressed Moon often highlights shorter developmental phases and changing emotional concerns.
