The Giver of Life is a traditional astrological significator associated with vitality and the sustaining force of a natal chart. It is often identified with the Hyleg, or apheta. Depending on the classical method used, candidates may include the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Part of Fortune, or prenatal lunation.

Astrological Meaning

The Giver of Life is not chosen simply by finding the strongest planet or point. Traditional procedures consider factors such as whether the chart is diurnal or nocturnal, a candidate’s house placement, and qualifying aspects from a ruler or other planet.
