Definition

Geoarc is a specialist astrological term for an angular distance, or arc, measured within a geocentric framework—that is, from an Earth-centered perspective. Depending on the method or author, the measurement may be taken along the ecliptic, equator, or another defined circle. Because usage is not fully standardized, the calculation rules should always be confirmed in context.

Astrological Meaning

A geoarc supplies a numerical relationship between chart factors rather than an interpretation by itself. An astrologer may use the measured arc in a directional, timing, or coordinate-based technique, then interpret the planets, angles, houses, and signs involved. Its meaning therefore depends on what is being measured, the reference circle used, and the rules of the particular traditional or specialized system. A geoarc should not automatically be treated as an ordinary zodiacal aspect.

Why It Matters

Understanding geoarc helps prevent confusion between different kinds of angular measurement. Two points can have one separation in zodiacal longitude and another when measured by a different celestial coordinate. Recognizing the method behind the figure makes chart interpretation more precise and allows older technical instructions to be followed correctly. When the term appears without explanation, consulting the author’s definitions or calculation notes is more reliable than assuming a universal formula.
