Astrologically, an epoch provides temporal context rather than acting as a planet, sign, house, or aspect. It may serve as the foundation for a chart intended to represent the opening of an era, dynasty, institution, calendar, or long-term cycle. In traditional and mundane astrology, practitioners may examine such a chart for themes associated with later developments.
