Vertex
Definition
The Vertex is a calculated point in the natal chart where the ecliptic intersects the prime vertical in the western half of the horoscope. It is not a planet or physical body. Its exact position depends on birth time and location, and the point directly opposite it is called the Anti-Vertex.
Astrological Meaning
Modern astrologers often associate the Vertex with encounters, circumstances, or turning points that feel unusually significant. Its sign may describe the style in which these experiences are approached, while its house indicates the area of life where they may become noticeable. Conjunctions from natal planets can personalize its symbolism. In synastry, one person’s planet contacting another person’s Vertex may suggest a compelling or consequential connection, but it does not guarantee permanence or a particular outcome. During transits, close contacts to the Vertex are sometimes examined alongside broader predictive factors.
Why It Matters
The Vertex offers an additional perspective on experiences that seem to arrive through other people or external developments.
