Standard Time is a civil timekeeping system in which a geographic region uses the same clock time, usually based on an agreed reference meridian and a fixed offset from Universal Time. It differs from local mean time, which reflects the Sun’s average position at a specific longitude. Historical records may instead follow daylight saving, wartime, or other regional rules.

In astrology, Standard Time is a calculation factor rather than a planet, point, or interpretive symbol. A recorded birth time must be identified according to the legal clock system used at that place and date. The astrologer or chart software then accounts for the applicable time-zone offset and any daylight-saving adjustment before converting the time to Universal Time.
