Definition

Makemake is a dwarf planet orbiting in the Kuiper Belt beyond Neptune. Discovered in 2005, it was named after a creator and fertility deity of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island. Because Makemake moves very slowly, astrologers generally treat it as a transpersonal or generational body rather than a traditional personal planet. Its astrological symbolism remains modern and is not yet standardized.
