East is the direction associated with rising celestial bodies. In a natal chart, its principal point is the Ascendant, where the ecliptic intersects the eastern horizon at the recorded time and place. On many standard chart wheels, east appears on the left, although diagram orientation can vary. The eastern hemisphere generally extends from the IC through the Ascendant to the Midheaven.

Astrological Meaning

The eastern horizon symbolizes emergence, beginnings, and the way a person meets life. The Ascendant describes outward approach, instinctive responses, and the manner in which someone enters situations.
