Antisedentia is a rare term found in older astrological terminology, generally describing an antecedent or preceding relationship between planets. It indicates that one planet comes before another according to the zodiacal order or the ordering method used by a particular traditional author. Because the term is uncommon and its spelling or usage may vary between texts, its intended technical meaning should always be established from context.

Astrological Meaning

In interpretation, antisedentia can draw attention to which planet leads and which follows within a planetary arrangement. The preceding planet may be treated as setting the tone, initiating a sequence, or providing circumstances through which the following planet operates. Its importance depends on the system being applied, including whether the author is considering zodiacal longitude, rising order, planetary motion, or another traditional criterion.
