In astrology, anomaly is mainly relevant to the astronomical calculations underlying ephemerides and chart software. Because planets move at changing apparent speeds, orbital anomaly helps astronomers determine where a planet is at a particular time. Astrologers generally interpret the resulting planetary longitude, motion, house placement, and aspects rather than anomaly itself. It is therefore a supporting computational concept, not usually a standalone chart factor with a fixed symbolic meaning.
