Definition

Partile conj is an abbreviated form of “partile conjunction.” It describes two planets or chart points occupying the same zodiacal degree, making their conjunction especially exact. In much traditional practice, bodies at 12°10′ and 12°50′ are considered partile because both occupy the twelfth degree, although some astrologers use the term more narrowly for near-identical longitudes. A conjunction within its accepted orb but not in the same degree may be called platick.

Astrological Meaning

A conjunction brings two planetary principles into direct combination. When it is partile, astrologers generally give that union greater emphasis because the distance between the bodies is minimal. Interpretation still depends on the planets involved, their sign, house, dignity, speed, condition, and whether the conjunction is applying or separating. For example, an applying partile conjunction may suggest a developing or immediate concentration of themes, while a separating one can describe something recently established or already expressed. Exactness increases focus but does not automatically make the contact helpful or difficult.

Why It Matters

Recognizing a partile conjunction helps prioritize chart factors. In a natal chart, it can mark a tightly fused pair of motivations or life functions. During a transit, it identifies a moment of peak contact between a moving planet and a natal factor. In synastry, it shows unusually close degree alignment between two people’s planets, though the wider relationship pattern remains essential. The term therefore adds precision without replacing full-chart judgment.
